## Are you teaching any of these in 2015?

Because if you are, I’d like to try an experiment.

I’d like to share some resources with you.  They’ve been deliberately designed with the hope that they can be picked up by another teacher (sorry, maths only) and used to teach the subject.

In return, I’d just like some feedback.  I’d like to know:

1. Whether you ended up using the resource, and to what extent?
2. If you didn’t, why you felt you couldn’t use it.
3. If you did, how you used it in your context.
4. If you did, whether there are any additions/alterations that you felt you had to make.

That’s it!  In short, the resources are deliberately designed such that they should, hopefully, dramatically reduce your workload.  What they are not, however, are lesson plans.  The fact that they’re not structured around any one lesson should help teachers to tailor delivery to whatever context they work in.

I’ll go into more detail on a case by case basis, but for now, if you’re teaching any of the following topics and are up for a bit of a social experiment in collaboration and professional development, then quickly fill in the super-short form at the bottom of the page.  I’ve deliberately limited it so that you can only select one topic, so that each person has only one focus – probably best to select the one you’re teaching earliest.

*I’ve been delivering these to Years 10 and 11, so will group them as such below.  They’re year group independent though, really, that’s just how it fits in with our curriculum, though it may give some hint as to the kind of content.  Just let me know if you’re teaching the topic to any year group, and I’ll send some things your way, and you can tell me if they’re any use!

Year 10

1. Probability
2. Significant Figures and Bounds
3. Types of Number / History of Number
4. Index Notation and the Index Laws
5. Standard Index Form
6. Surds

Year 11

1. Averages and Distributions (spread and frequency distribution)
2. Frequency Tables and Stem and Leaf Diagrams
3. Frequency Polygons, Cumulative Frequency Graphs, and Boxplots
4. Histograms
5. Vectors
6. Transformations

Hi Kris – I am partway through a School Direct PGCE (changing career after having worked in the City for 20 years or so). I have been amazed at how little structured sharing of resources there has been and as a result how many teachers there must be across the country doing exactly the same thing at exactly the same time, 99.9% of which effort could be directed elsewhere if the work could be shared.

I’d be very interested to try to use whatever resources you may have. I will be a teaching:
Year 10 (2nd set)
– Probability
– Formulae and Linear Equations
– Pythag and Trig
– Similarity and Congruence
– Circle Theorems

Year 11 (top and second set)
– Histograms and data

I’ve scheduled a post for 1300 today which goes into a bit more detail, but in short it’s been over 120 maths teachers so far.
